The ideas behind SMART are developed from Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy or REBT. REBT has a long pedigree. REBT was first developed and tested by Albert Ellis, PhD, in the 1950s. These ideas and theories have undergone rigorous examination by professionals.

Certainly not all professionals totally agree with the methods used in SMART. Many are simply unfamiliar with SMART and what we do.
