The ideas behind SMART are developed from Rational Emotive
Behavior Therapy or REBT. REBT has a long pedigree. REBT was
first developed and tested by Albert Ellis, PhD, in the 1950s.
These ideas and theories have undergone rigorous examination by
professionals. Certainly not all professionals totally agree with the methods used in SMART. Many are simply unfamiliar with SMART and what we do. However, the findings show that SMART methods are at least as effective as other systems for helping recovery. For some individuals, SMART methods are even more effective than other methods. SMART can help expedite your efforts and transition with the time-tested "PowerTools" offered. One of the key SMART ideas is that rational thinking supports effective living in many powerful ways. |
