SMART teaches skills. Skills, like those of an artist, musician, athlete, craftsman or technician are learned over a period of time. If we were to expect to do those types of things without putting in some practice , that would not be very rational (logical) would it? Learning the Skills required to recover from addictive behavior are not that different, really. So when we find oursleves making the mistake, lapsing, slipping....whatever you wish to name it.... Look at it for what it is and take it for what it is worth... an opportunity. Take the opportunity to use the Skills of SMART to understand how it occured and what you can do better. With this directed effort you minimize the time required and maximize the progress as you learn these... |
