This is the Critical Principle upon which SMART is based.

It is epitomized by the statement, "People can not "make" you angry. It is your thoughts, your rules attitudes and assumptions ABOUT the person and what they are doing that creates the feelings and actions of anger. ( as well as most feelings and/or behaviors )

This is the cornerstone of the ABC process as well. The PowerTool by which we test the rationality of our thoughts and beliefs.

Once you come to understand and appreciate this fact, there is an enormous freedom that occurs. Now events do not control you...
